How your logo was created.
Your logo has been developed in a vector graphics program, which means that it is scalable to very large sizes without a loss in resolution.  The vector files come in AI(Adobe Illustrator) and EPS(Encapsulated Post Script) formats which can be used for color adjustment, resizing, modification and printing by most commercial printers.

Color format.

We have matched the colors you see in your logo on your monitor as close as possible using the PMS (Pantone Matching System) matching system within your vector files.  The colors we have selected are what we believe to be close matches.  Printers use the universal PMS color matching format to keep your printed items consistent as far as color is concerned.  We suggest that you review an example swatch of each color that we have chosen for your logo at your print shop.  They should have PMS color charts available for you to view.
If you will be printing in full color (CMYK process) your vector files can easily be converted to that format by your printer.

The flat versions of your logo, JPG, GIF, TIF, BMP are in RGB color format.

File types included on your CD.

EPS
Encapsulated PostScript; a graphics format that describes an image in the PostScript language. Can be used as a starting point by commercial printers, embroiders, sign makers, etc... to develop your logo for various applications.  EPS files can be adjusted using a vector program such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Xara X or Freehand.
This is a source file, which makes it fully editable.  Your logo CD contains one EPS file which includes your logo in Pantone colors as well as black a only format.  Your logo is separated within the EPS file by color, not by shape or or individual elements.

AI

Adobe Illustrator program file format.  Can be adjusted using a vector program such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Xara X or Freehand.  This is a source file, which makes it fully editable.  Can be used as a starting point by commercial printers, embroiders, sign makers, etc... to develop your logo for various applications.  Your logo CD contains one AI file which includes your logo in Pantone colors as well as a black only format.  Your logo is separated within the AI file by color, not by shape or or individual elements.

PDF
Portable Document Format; a type of formatting that enables files to be viewed on a variety computers regardless of the program originally used to create them. PDF files retain the "look and feel" of the original document with special formatting, graphics, and color intact.  PDF files are viewable/ editable in Adobe Acrobat, Acrobat Reader, etc.
Can be used as a starting point by commercial printers, embroiders, sign makers, etc... to develop your logo for various applications.  Your logo CD contains one PDF file which includes your logo in Pantone colors as well as black only/ grayscale format.

TIF
Tag Image File Format; a popular file format for storing bit-mapped graphic images on desktop computers. The graphic can be any resolution and can be black and white, gray-scale, or color. Files of this type usually have the suffix ".tif" as part of their name.
The TIF files on your logo disk are set to 300 DPI(HIGH) resolution.  As long as you are shrinking them down in dimension size they should retain a high quality, blowing them up may degrade the quality.  TIF files are flat raster files, they cannot be edited beyond being painted over in programs such as Photoshop.  Your TIF files are suitable for printing from your home computer, newspaper print use, telephone directory use, and any other application that requires high resolution without editing abilities.  Your logo cd includes two 300 DPI TIF files, one in color and one in black and white/ grayscale.  Color files are denoted by the word "color" in their file name while black only files have the word "black" in their file name.

JPG
Joint Photographic Experts Group; a graphics format which compresses an image to save space.  Your logo JPG files come in two resolution types, 300DPI (HIGH) and 96DPI (LOW.)  The high resolution JPG files are suitable for printing your logo in situations where it will be standing on its own as an image, no background etc...  For instance they could be used to print stationery from your home computer using Microsoft Word, Publisher, etc...  Your low resolution JPG logo files are suitable for internet use.
Your logo CD includes your logo in full color in three separate sizes in the low resolution JPG  format; small, medium and large.  There is also a similar black only/ grayscale set included.  Color files are denoted by the word "color" in their file name while black only/ grayscale files have the word "black" in their file name.

GIF
Graphics Interchange Format; a format for a file that contains a graphic or a picture. Files of this type usually have the suffix ".gif" as part of their name.  GIF files are suitable for website use, and low resolution printing use such as faxes.  Your logo CD includes your logo in full color in three separate sizes in the GIF format, small, medium and large.  There is also a similar black only/ grayscale set included.  Color files are denoted by the word "color" in their file name while black only/ grayscale files have the word "black" in their file name.

BMP
Bitmap file; a common image format on Windows computers. Files of this type usually have the suffix ".bmp" as part of their name.   BMP files are suitable for low resolution printing from your home computer.  Your logo CD includes your logo in full color in three separate sizes in the BMP format; small, medium and large.  There is also a similar black only set included.  Color files are denoted by the word "color" in their file name while black only/ grayscale files have the word "black" in their file name.

PSD

Photoshop program file.  We include a copy of your logo in PSD format so you can adjust the background layer on your logo if you have this program, there are also other graphics programs that support layers that can use this file.  When you open the file in Photoshop or a similar program the background, white are, will appear clear.  You can then adjust the background color to match the application you are working on, resize the entire image to fit where you need it to, then export it to the proper format for the application.  If by chance your PSD file does not have a background layer all you have to do is add a layer in photoshop and move it to the back.   Then change the color of this layer to the color you need, the dead space around your logo will show through to the background color.

Using your logo in your programs.
The easiest way to bring your logo into whatever program you are using is to import it in.  Depending on what program you are using there should be an option on the control bar to "import , insert or place" an image, in Microsoft Works for instance it is under the "insert" tab.  See the help files for the particular program you are using for "importing an image" or "importing an image from a disk."

Re-sizing your logo for various applications.
The rule of thumb when resizing is to start with a large image in high resolution.  For instance the high resolution TIF files that are included on your logo CD.  Using a popular program such as Adobe Photoshop you could open that image and then scale it down to fit the project you are working on, and then export it to the proper file format, if you are going to use the new file for the web it needs to be saved as a JPG or GIF.  Be sure to scale down in equal proportion, that is if you want the logo to be 50% of its original size, make sure you reduce its horizontal AND vertical dimensions by 50%.  Otherwise your logo may be stretched out if proportion and appear odd.
If you have a program that uses layers, Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, you can use the PSD(Photoshop) files included on your disk to change the background color of your logo to match the application at hand.

How your CD is laid out.
Your logo files are separated into folders that are named after their file type.  If you ordered stationery with your logo design then your stationery files will be located in the "stationery" folder.  Within this folder are three additional folders, one each for; business card, letterhead and envelope.  Within these folders you will find your stationery files in three separate formats; EPS, AI and PDF.

How your files are named.
The names of your logo files are constructed this way:

Color or Black to denote that the file is full color or black/grayscale + the size of the logo; small, medium or large.

Your EPS, AI, PDF and PSD files will be the named as the name of your business.  There is only one file each of
these because they contain your logo in color as well as black and white/ grayscale within the same file.

Your TIF files will be named only COLOR or BLACK, we only include 2 large, high resolution versions of your logo
in the TIF format.  One in color and the other in black and white/ grayscale.

How your files are sized.
The EPS and AI files on your disk are vector files, which means they can be adjusted to any size without losing image quality, normally the initial size of each logo within the file is 3 to 4 inches wide.

The Raster files on your disk, GIF, JPG, BMP are in three different sizes.  Small, Medium and Large.  The small size is normally 2 inches or so wide, the medium would be 3 to 4 inches wide while the large file would be 4 to 5 inches wide or larger.

The Raster TIF files on your CD are sized large, normally 5 to 6 inches wide.  This is so they won’t lose as much image quality when shrunk down.

Your PSD (photo shop files) are sized the same as your EPS and AI files, each logo is normally 3 to 4 inches in size.

STATIONERY FILE SIZES:

Your stationery files are sized by the USA standard for letterhead, business cards and envelopes.

Letterhead:  8.5" x 11"
Business Card: 3.5" x 2"
Envelope:  9.5" x 4.12"
