Hybrid System
Once a customer has enabled Windows services, the hosting system knows to send Windows specific requests to Windows servers based on file extension (.html, .shtml, etc. will be served by Unix servers, .asp and .cfm requests will be served by Windows 2000 servers). This is made possible by our redundant, distributed architecture. Site content is housed on Network Filers – not individual web servers – this, along with removing individual web servers as a point of failure, allows content for one site to be served through multiple servers. In this system a user can mix Unix and Windows content in the same site. This will enable you to use Windows resources (ASP pages, etc.) and powerful Linux based database server MySQL at the same time. This is especially very useful if your database exceeds MS Access limits and you need more powerful database like MySQL or MS SQL.

Our Internet gateway is made redundant through the implementation of BGP4 (Border Gateway Protocol), which ensures that our multiple T3 connections are always available and, in the event that one goes down, the other will seamlessly pick up the slack. Our Cisco routers are made redundant through the use of HSRP (Hot Swappable Router Protocol), which guarantees that our network will never skip a beat. Utilizing load-balancing hardware designed for fail over in the event of a fault, we guarantee our clustered servers will always remain up and running 99.9% of the time.
RAID5 Storage Technology
Data integrity and speed are assured by Network Appliance Filers using RAID5 storage technology. A Redundant Array of Independent Drives (RAID) accomplishes this by copying or "mirroring" all data onto offline drives. If an online drive fails, another identical drive brings itself online to ensure the availability of its data. Backups of all data are routine, automatic and kept on-site. These backups are duplicated at two state of the art, world-class data centers that are geographically separated. All of our data centers are climate controlled, maintain extensive backup systems and employ physical security measures.

We do the same for databases (previous 4 days) however it would require a call into the support group to initiate the restore. There are no extra charges for this service as long as it's done on an "as needed" basis.
