Verizon blocks smtp port 25
If you are using Verizon as ISP to connect Internet, you may have problem sending emails using Port 25. Verizon blocks the standard smtp (outgoing) email port 25.
You have two options:
- Change your email client to send email using port 587 instead of port 25.
- or Use web based email services. Web based e-mail is unaffected by port 25 blocking.
Outlook Express
1. Open Outlook Express.
2. From the Outlook Express Tools menu, click Accounts
3. Click the Mail tab
4. Select your email account
5. In the Properties dialog box, click the Servers tab
6. Click the Advanced tab
7. View the Outgoing mail (SMTP) Port and change it to 587 and save.
Outlook 2000
1. Open Outlook 2000
2. Click the Tools menu and then click Accounts
3. Select your email account
4. Click Properties
5. In the Properties dialog box, click the Servers tab
6. Click the Advanced tab
7. View the Outgoing mail (SMTP) Port and change it to 587 and save.
Outlook 2002/03
- Open Outlook 2002/03
- On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts
- Click View or change existing e-mail accounts
- Select your email account
- Click Change
- Click More Settings
- Click the Advanced tab
- View the Outgoing mail (SMTP) Port
Entourage
- Open Entourage
- On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
- Select your email account
- Click Edit
- On the Account Settings tab, in the Sending Mail section, click “Click here for advanced sending options.”
- View the Outgoing mail (SMTP) Port
Eudora
- Open Eudora
- Open Eudora
- Scroll down in the navigation pane and click Ports.
- View the Outgoing mail (SMTP) Port
